Frequently Asked Questions

We get that seeking help can be daunting. We’re here to help you navigate and start your journey towards healing. Here are some of the questions we often receive to get started.

Have a question that isn’t answered here? Get in touch with us. A care coordinator will respond within 24 hours.

  • Our providers will review questionnaires that you completed before your appointment to get a general sense of how you have been feeling recently. They will then listen to you tell your story in session. You are allowed to take your time to tell us how you feel. Depending on your history, we might need more than one session to offer a recommendation for treatment.

We want to start getting familiar with the full picture since we prioritize a holistic perspective, so we will ask you some questions about your mental and physical health history, family, past treatments (if relevant), childhood, appetite, sleep patterns, and current goals with treatment.

  • Integrative psychiatry challenges conventional psychiatry by not only focusing on physical symptoms, but also the mental, emotional, and environmental aspects of a patient’s well-being. We want to dive deeper, and really understand the mind-body connection.

Beyond medications, we believe providing therapy in a non-judgmental, safe space is important so that you can understand your thoughts and feelings, and ultimately develop effective coping strategies to handle life’s challenges. In integrative psychiatry, we might touch on nutritional psychiatry, recommend supplements, order labwork or genetic testing, explore finding and forming healthy relationships, and recommend lifestyle changes or complementary therapies.

At La Lune Integrative Psychiatry, we believe in customizing your treatment plan. There is no one-size-fits-all approach.

  • Absolutely. We believe therapy is an important part of the healing process. We provide supportive therapy during every session. There may be certain instances where we might refer to more specialized therapists depending on your needs.

Some of our nurse practitioners can offer therapy exclusively and some do medication management and therapy in the same session. Our care coordinators can guide you to the right provider based on your needs and preferences. Additionally, some of our patients may have a separate therapist for longer sessions weekly and may see us for shorter sessions.

  • We treat primarily anxiety, depression, insomnia, bipolar spectrum, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, phobias, panic attacks, and difficulty with major life changes. There may be certain instances where we might refer to higher level of care if we feel you could benefit from extra support. We are currently only providing telehealth services at this time, so we have some limitations in terms of obtaining a comprehensive physical assessment.

  • When we book an appointment, we reserve that time for you and other patients are unable to book during that time. We require 48-hour written notice so that it gives others the opportunity to book the appointment. Without this notice, the patient would be responsible for the full cost of the appointment, depending on which appointment type they chose.
